Venice and two blondes

By ledna 06, 2019 ,

Where are you going, girls ? Asked us cabin crew on train station in ƚstƭ.
To Prague, we said
Well, you´re at wrong place. He said to us and with a “stupid blondes” look left.

Did you ever find yourself in this awkward/embarrassing situation? If yes, trust us, you´re not the only one. :)

Anyways, today we will tell you not only our awkward stories but also how we spent a day in beautiful Christmas Venice – so make yourself comfortable and let’s begin.
Important thing to say it´s that we didn’t go by ourselves. We bought the whole trip through Slevomat, which is a cheap way in Czech Republic to visit beautiful places basically. This trip cost us 1300 CZK (57 USD - trip with bus + guide services). Also, we had to pay for a boat and entry into Venetian lagoon (26 €). Our departure was from Prague, but we are from north, so we had a long ride before us.
Our departure from Prague was at 8 pm that is why we left our homes really early – thank God for that.
This trip with bus was long, we can even say torturing. This drive was 22 hours, ouch our long legs, but…We did it without bigger problems.

First stop Punta Sabbioni.
If you ever visit Venice, don’t panic. Bus or car will drop you on main parking lot on peninsula Punta Sabbioni - there will wait a boat, which will take you to dreamy Venice. We were naĆÆve the first time we were here because we thought that our bus will take us exactly to Venice (you can see we are blondes, no offence to blonde hair). Harbor was beautiful. If you´ll have spare time you can take little walk, which will take you to a beautiful sand beach, where you can find beautiful shells but be aware that you can go only in the morning, after noon there will be tide.
The trip with boat will take about half an hour. The boat will always anchor at the same place at the begining of Venice, where will start your journey through magical Venice.

From there you get two options  - you can go sightseeing with your guide or you can go by yourself. On our first visit we went with guide (be aware that our guide was a woman in her 60´s and her speach was really quite and also she was russian so her czech wasn´t the best). This time we went by ourselfs and let me tell you it was much better decisions. If you´re asking how to know where to go? Well, in Venice it´s really easy  -  the main tourist street, which lead through Saint Mark square to Fish market is really easy to find, there is a lot of people (mostly tourists). So if you decide to go by yourself go with the crowd and you will always end up at Fish market and you can go back without difficulties. If you are against word such as crowd and tourists, We are sorry to tell you but in Venice there is basically no one else, Summer or Winter it doesn´t matter, but it´s true that in Winter theres is less people so it´s up to you.

Do you want to know where did we go and what we saw? Let´s continue, shall we?

Our first must was Piazza San Marco or also known as St Mark’s square. It is one of the largest squares in the world, so you just had to see it. This square and whole town is renowned for the beauty of their settings, their architecture, and artwork. We were in awe when we saw the whole town. Also, there is St Mark´s Basilica, Clock Tower, Doge´s Palace or two large granite columns (it says that the true Italian would never go between them cause in history there was execution site and until today they believe that if you go between them you will be unlucky – so be aware of that.

If you love fashion or shopping you will fall in love with this city. Our first visit was nothing else than Victoria´s Secret shop -wow! The moment we stept in we knew we will spent a lot of money. To be honest this store was kinda small but well-arranged and clean. Those prices were little higher than we expect, but that didn´t scare us.

Other interesting store that you can find in Venice is for example Disney store but be careful if you love Disney you will spend a lot of money, it can happen (trust us).

Next, we can mention MAC, Sephora, Kiko, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, etc. What we couldn´t left was those typical stores where you can buy local souvenirs or food. Our beautiful souvenirs are typical Venice masks (you can find them on every corner), but beware of prices. Every item can be differently priced (difference cca 10 Euro). Italy is practically about bargaining. It´s clear that in those big destinations are prices made for tourists, but dont worry if you bargain them you can get half the price and if you  feel embarassed dont be, they love it, Italians love to bargain it´s basically their job. But I have to worry you dont try this in restaurants.

What is the most typical thing for Venice are bridges (That´s why they call it City of bridges). You will see them practically everywhere. No wonder this is the only way how to get from one canal to the other. The most known are Ponte di Rialto and Ponte dei Sospiri

After all the walking, sight seeing and bridges you finally arrived to local market. You can find there a lot of  fresh, exotic fruit, spice or fish. This market is really big and we can honestly say that you can buy there stuff for your love ones for example dry chilli peppers, mixture of spice etc.

And there you are basically at the end of main tourist street. If you get a little more time and you are still in the mood you can go to other tiny streets – there is not that much people and you can even take a great photo without getting stare of or you can find tiny, cheap stores. But every pros got cons. Be careful where you´re going you can easy get lost there. But dont panic if you stay calm you´ll always find your way out. And if you will think you are really lost, GPS got your back.

We also visit some restaurants, three to be exact. In the first one which was near fish market we ordered the most typical meal in Italy – italian pizza. Pizza was awesome, but service wasn´t. We are pretty sure that if you were not ready to spent there at least 100 Euro, you weren´t a really good customers. The waiter was really impolite and rude.
The second restaurant looked really beautiful from the outside but the inside.. Totally different. It was Indian restaurant and this was just catastrophic. After long arguing we ordered just Coca-cola and Fanta. Without any questions what size we want he left and came with something that looked like coca-cola but really wasn´t. We didn´t want to be rude so we just sipped some of it and decided to leave. When it came to paying we had a little heart attack, this little coke cost us  6 euro – i mean that is pretty pricey if you asked us.

The best for last. Our last restaurant was near the docks. There we ate till we dropped, no we just kidding but seriously we ordered big toast for 6 euro and delicious drink for 5 euro – we got to mention that this bottle had 1 litr.

So after this delicious meal we had to wait for boat to take us back and with joy in our eyes (note the sarcasm) we went home. If somebody of you think that this trip was really short, we dont think so. You don´t have to take any free time in your job and for a cheap price you got to see and experience new country.

We really hope that you liked our article and if yes dont forget to subscribe and if you want, you can follow us on our Instagrams, where you can see our Everyday life. Also leave a comment if you were or if you want to go to Venice. Have a beautiful of day. P.S please don´t be hard on us, we know our english is bad be want to try it this way.

With love your Blond Girls – Miley and Christine
